It’s safe to say the delegation to Trosky didn’t go as planned, and while there’s no sense in pointing fingers (Hans) perhaps camping out in the open despite being warned that bandits were about wasn’t the best idea (Hans!) As a result of this ambush (HANS!), Henry ends up losing his equipment, his dog, his horse and even most of his stats! Fortunately you can gain most of these back, and this page will discuss how to earn the "Good Old Pebbles" iconGood Old Pebbles perk in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2!

  • How to Unlock the “Good Old Pebbles” Perk: While the metric isn’t exactly clear, we unlocked the “Goold Old Pebbles” perk by gaining 4,000 Horsemanship EXP (enough to go from roughly Lv8 to Lv17), travelling 37km on horseback in the process.

Page Breakdown

How to Get Pebbles

Before you can worry about Pebbles’s stats, you need to find her, first. Start the quest The Jaunt and after the fight with Jurko at Lord "Semine" iconSemine’s estate you’ll end up doing a bit of chatting, which culminates with Henry being invited to tag along in a search for the missing wagon you seek. Only problem is, you need a horse. Exit the estate via a gate to the southwest to find a pen for the horses and examine the grey one to identify it as your missing Pebbles. Save your game here, then talk to Groom Ballatay, whose greed disinclines him to do the right thing - succeed at a Speech check and he’ll give you the horse back, or you can buy Pebbles from him for 180~ groschen.

(1 of 4) Travel to Lord Semine’s estate during “The Jaunt” and you’ll be told to get a horse.

However you manage it, regain ownership of Pebbles, then walk up to Pebbles and investigate the horse to see her stats, which aren’t the greatest. In fact, they’re pretty terrible! You can modify Pebbles’ stats by equipping some of the starter kit Ballatay gave you when he was preparing Pebbles for you, including a Damaged Leather Bridle and a Moglen Saddle of Poor Quality Leather. Buying better saddles, bridles and horseshoes can improve the stats further, but the bottom line remains the same - Pebbles is a bad horse.

Fortunately like Henry, Pebbles can recover what was lost, the poor girl just need some exercise. A lot of exercise, actually. Complete the quest The Jaunt and you’ll have the freedom to explore unimpeded by quest obligations, at which time, summon Pebbles and just… ride her around the Trosky countryside, galloping whenever Pebbles has the stamina for it. We prefer riding loops around the relatively flat plains between "Troskowitz" iconTroskowitz, Castle Trosky and "Tachov" iconTachov, but anywhere you’re comfortable riding with few obstacles in your way will suffice.

We’re not sure which metric the game uses to determine when the perk “Good Old Pebbles” unlocks, so we tracked several - when we got Pebbles our Horsemanship was Lv8 and we had to ride until around Horsemanship Lv17 to unlock the perk. This was around 4,000 Horsemanship EXP, or 37km of distance travelled via horseback. Obviously you don’t need to be insane like us and grind this out, just ride Pebbles as you travel in pursuit of quest objectives and whatnot and you’ll make progress. Once this perk unlocks you’ll find it in your Horsemanship perks list - it’s a free perk that massively boosts Pebbles’ stats and ensures you’ve no need to go horse shopping any time soon, if ever! Pebbles’ base stats and her “Good Old Pebbles” stats can be found below:

Once you’ve unlocked “Good Old Pebbles” you should have a horse fit for just about anything Trosky can throw at you! It’ll certainly make the race during Miri Fajta easier!
